# Vehicle profile: the history of a single vehicle

Look up a vehicle by its VIN and see its current operator and owner, technical details and its history of owners and operators.

The vehicle profile in Prospector shows the history of one specific vehicle. Search for a vehicle by its VIN (vehicle identification number) and you see who operates and owns the vehicle today, its technical details, and the owners and operators on record.

### What you can use the vehicle profile for

* **Find the current status, operator and owner of a vehicle** from its VIN, with its technical details. For example, to offer servicing to a new operator.
* **See who buys vehicles from a company.** Useful if you want to offer to buy its vehicles.
* **See who supplies a company with used or nearly new vehicles.** Useful if you sell used or nearly new vehicles yourself.
* **Find the usual length of vehicle financing.** Plan to contact the company when its financing period ends.
* **Find vehicle resellers.** These are companies that resell vehicles to another company in the Czech Republic within a short time, or export them abroad.

### What a vehicle profile looks like

The profile header shows the VIN, make, model and category. Below it you see:

* **Current Operator** and **Current Owner**, each with the date they took over the vehicle
* **Last known mileage**
* **Vehicle details**, such as the date of first use, fuel type, power, weight and estimated operating district
* **Owners and operators**, the history of owners and operators, with dates

### Who finds the vehicle profile useful?

* Salespeople at new-car dealerships
* Used-car salespeople at a dealership or a used-car dealership
* Car buyers at a used-car dealership
* Staff of an official brand importer
* Salespeople at a leasing company
* Salespeople at a leasing company who sell vehicles returned from operating leases

### How do you open a vehicle profile?

There are two ways to open a vehicle profile.

**1. Search for the VIN in the main search field.** The vehicle appears in the results under **Vehicles**. Click it.

**2. Click the VIN in the vehicle list on a company profile.** Open the company's **Vehicles** tab and click a VIN in the **VIN + Profile** column.
