# How credits and limits work in Prospector

The three credit types in Prospector, the monthly limits per plan, the daily cap on profile views, and how to buy extra credits.

*Updated: 2 October 2026*

Prospector uses three separate credit limits: **company data**, **contacts**, and **AI Prioritization**. Each has its own monthly amount. This article explains what counts against each limit, how large the limits are on each plan, and what to do when you run out of credits.

The MCP connector has its own limits. It has a separate 24-hour limit per user *(as of August 2026)*, and work done through the connector does not count against the monthly limits in this article. See [BizMachine MCP connector: what it does and what it is for](/en/mcp-connector/mcp-connector-overview.md).

### Credit types

#### Company data credits

You use one credit from this limit for every company you export to XLS and for every API call for company data. Company data credits are interchangeable: it does not matter whether you use them for exports or for the API.

| Action | Uses credits? |
| -------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| Browsing companies in search | No |
| Opening a company profile | No |
| Exporting a company to XLS | Yes, 1 company = 1 credit |
| API call for company data | Yes, 1 call = 1 credit |
| Exporting the same company again | Yes, every export counts |

#### Contact credits

This is a separate limit for exporting personal contacts (name, position, email, phone). One exported contact = one credit from this limit.

| Action | Uses credits? |
| ------------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| Viewing contacts on a company profile | No |
| Exporting a contact (person) to XLS | Yes, 1 contact = 1 credit |
| Exporting the same contact again | Yes, every export counts |

#### AI Prioritization credits

AI Prioritization has its own credit limit. You use one credit for every company evaluated when you run a prioritization.

| Action | Uses credits? |
| -------------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| Running AI Prioritization | Yes, 1 company = 1 credit |
| Viewing prioritization results | No |
| Running it again on the same companies | Yes, every run counts |

The dialog you use to start a prioritization shows your limit and how many credits you have used.

### How many credits you have

Total monthly limits for your organization, by plan:

| As of June 2026 | Essential | Pro | Custom |
| ------------------------------ | --------- | ------- | ---------- |
| Company exports (export + API) | 10,000 | 100,000 | Individual |
| Contact exports | 500 | 3,000 | Individual |

*Values valid as of June 2026.*

These limits apply to the whole organization. Each user has their own individual limit within this amount, which the BizMachine team sets at your organization's request. A colleague in the same workspace has their own limit, independent of yours.

### Daily limit on profile views

Opening company profiles does not use credits, but there is a daily cap:

* **Essential:** 200 profiles per day per user *(as of April 2026)*
* **Pro:** 300 profiles per day per user *(as of April 2026)*
* **Custom:** individual

### Where to see your credit balance

You find the current usage of the company data and contact limits under [**Import / Export**](https://prospector.bizmachine.com/v3/en/datasets/cz/exports) in the left menu, on the **Export history** page. **Company exports** and **Contact exports** are shown separately, each as used credits out of your limit. The page lists export requests from the last 180 days *(as of September 2026)*.

### When the limits renew

All three limits (company data, contacts, and AI Prioritization) renew to their full amount on the **1st day of every calendar month** *(as of October 2026)*. Unused credits from the previous month do not carry over.

### Tip: filter first, then export

Credits are used only when you export, not when you browse results. Before exporting, narrow your results with filters, check them, and export only what you really need.

Example: you have 500 results, but you only need companies in Prague with revenue above CZK 50 million. Add the filters, narrow the list to 40 companies, then export. You use 40 credits instead of 500.

### How to mark the companies you have exported

Before exporting, save the companies to a label, for example `Exported 2026-05`. You will know exactly what you downloaded and when, and the next time you search you can set this label as an exclusion filter.

If you need the same list again, import the label back into Prospector through [**Import / Export**](https://prospector.bizmachine.com/v3/en/datasets/cz/imports) → **New Import**, and the list is ready without searching again.

### How to buy extra credits

You can add extra company data credits and contact credits to your plan. Write to us at <support@bizmachine.com> and we will arrange it.

### Frequently asked questions

**Are the company data and contact limits separate?** Yes. You use each limit independently.

**Can I use company credits for both the API and exports?** Yes. Company data credits are interchangeable: they cover both exports and API calls.

**Does exporting the same company a second time use a credit?** Yes. Every export counts separately, regardless of earlier downloads.

**What happens when I run out of credits?** You cannot use that limit again until it renews. You can still browse companies and work in search.

**Can I carry unused credits over to the next month?** No. All three limits renew to their full amount on the 1st of every month, and unused credits do not carry over.

**Where can I see my export history?** Under **Import / Export** in the left menu, on the **Export history** page. It lists your exports from the last 180 days *(as of September 2026)*, with the date and the number of results.
