Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://help.bizmachine.com/en/mcp-connector/connecting-chatgpt.md). # How to connect BizMachine to ChatGPT How to create the BizMachine app in your ChatGPT workspace (admin step) and connect it to your own account (user step), plus the personal ChatGPT setup. *Updated: 5 October 2026* This guide shows you how to connect the BizMachine MCP connector (formerly the AI connector) to ChatGPT. Once connected, ChatGPT queries your BizMachine workspace directly. It works with verified company data, with your labels and with AI Prioritization, not with what the model finds on the web or makes up. If you are looking for the guide for a personal ChatGPT Plus account without a company workspace, skip to the section **How do I connect a personal ChatGPT account?** below. Connecting has two steps: 1. **An administrator** creates the BizMachine app for the whole workspace once. 2. **Each user** then connects the app to their own account and signs in to BizMachine. > For what the connector can and cannot do yet, see the [overview of the connector](/en/mcp-connector/mcp-connector-overview.md). *** ### What do you need? * **A ChatGPT account.** We recommend the **Business** plan with a strong model. We tested with the GPT-5.5 model. * **A BizMachine account** with access to the workspace you want to connect to. * For step 1 (creating the app), the **administrator** role in your ChatGPT workspace. {% hint style="warning" %} **Don't connect the connector to free accounts or weak models.** It will technically connect, but a weak model can't work with an MCP server properly and will likely make up data. BizMachine doesn't support that kind of setup. {% endhint %} *** ### Part 1 - for the administrator: create the BizMachine app You only need to do this step once. The whole ChatGPT workspace then sees the app, and each user only needs to connect it (Part 2). #### 1. Open app management Sign in to the workspace administration at [chatgpt.com/admin](https://chatgpt.com/admin) and open the **Apps** section. Fill in the app details The **New App** window opens. Fill in these fields: | Field | Value | | -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Name** | `BizMachine` | | **Description** (optional) | `B2B company data, signals, AI prioritization, segments` | | **Connection** | the **Server URL** tab (the MCP server address); enter `https://api.bizmachine.com/mcp` | | **Authentication** | `OAuth` | At the bottom, tick **I understand and want to continue**. ChatGPT shows a warning that custom MCP servers introduce risk. This is the standard message for every custom connector. Upload the logo and create the app Uploading the logo is optional, but we recommend it. Your team then recognizes the app in the list right away. Next to the **Icon** field, click **+** and upload the BizMachine logo. Here is the BizMachine logo. Right-click the image, choose "Save image as…" and upload the saved file in the **Icon** field. Users continue with Part 2. *** ### Part 2 - for users: connect BizMachine to your account Each user does this part on their own. The administrator must have created the app first (Part 1). #### 1. Open Settings and the Apps section In ChatGPT, open **Settings** at [chatgpt.com/#settings](https://chatgpt.com/#settings) and select **Apps** on the left (direct link: [chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors](https://chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors)). Select BizMachine In the menu, select **BizMachine**. It has the **INTERNAL** tag because it is an internal app in your workspace. Confirm the connection ChatGPT shows which permissions the app has and how data is handled. Sign in to BizMachine The BizMachine sign-in page opens. Sign in with your **Microsoft** or **Google** account. Once you confirm, BizMachine is connected to your account. *** ### Part 3 - how to use BizMachine in a chat #### 1. Ask your question The **BizMachine** tag appears below the message field. Now you can ask about companies, segments or signals. Ask a simple question with the connector turned on, for example: > Find the company Kofola in BizMachine and summarize what has changed at the company in the last quarter. If ChatGPT calls a BizMachine tool in its answer and returns structured data (signals, financials, technologies), everything is connected correctly. If it answers in general terms without calling the tool, the connector is not turned on for that conversation (see Troubleshooting). *** ### How do I connect a personal ChatGPT account? A Plus account does not need a company workspace or an administrator. You create the BizMachine app yourself. #### 1. Turn on Developer mode In ChatGPT, open **Settings** » **Apps** » **Advanced settings**. Turn on the **Developer mode** toggle. > ChatGPT shows the **ELEVATED RISK** warning. Fill in the app details and upload the logo The steps are the same as steps 2 and 3 in Part 1 of this guide: fill in the name, the Server URL and OAuth, and optionally upload the logo. #### 4. Sign in to BizMachine The **Add BizMachine to ChatGPT** window appears. BizMachine is ready in the chat After you sign in, BizMachine appears in the tools menu. BizMachine doesn't support that kind of setup. {% endhint %} *** ### Troubleshooting **I don't see BizMachine in Add more.** The administrator must create the app first (Part 1). If they have just created it, reload the page. **ChatGPT answers in general terms and does not use the BizMachine data.** Check that the connector is turned on for that conversation (**+** -> **More** -> **BizMachine**). An explicit instruction also helps, for example "use BizMachine". Don't connect the connector to free accounts or weak models. It will technically connect, but a weak model can't work with an MCP server properly and will likely make up data. BizMachine doesn't support that kind of setup. **After a while, ChatGPT asks me to sign in again.** The BizMachine sign-in has to be renewed from time to time. Confirm the sign-in again (Part 2, step 4). **I connected with a free account and the results are not reliable.** Don't connect the connector to free accounts or weak models. It will technically connect, but a weak model can't work with an MCP server properly and will likely make up data.
